Here we go again. A doctor indulged in disgusting behaviour by expressing milk in a Virgin Australia business class lounge. She discreetly did so under a shirt but was requested to do so elsewhere.
In 1984 it was legislated that women can breastfeed in public. How can this still be an issue some forty years plus later? Do you know what makes it all the worse? It was a female staff member who 'advised' the woman. When it was suggested she could express her milk in the toilet, the doctor said, ok, you bring your lunch with you and sit with me in the toilet eating your lunch while I express milk to feed my baby.
I think as part of staff training anywhere, the right to breastfeed in public should be mentioned. It shouldn't have to be like that.
One woman who spoke on the radio said that when challenged by a man about breastfeeding in public, because it made him feel uncomfortable, moved her baby away and flashed him in his face her full bare breast. He moved away.

Unrelated, this was an odd headline I saw on FB. Florida man bites off brother's penis when he caught him having sex with his cousin on the penis biter's favourite Dragon Ball blanket. Nowt as queer as folk.
I was led elsewhere, whereby you Guggle 'Florida man...' and insert your birthdate in the format say January 22.
Lordy, mine came up as 'Florida man arrested for pleasuring himself with an ice pack'. Feel free to comment what your Florida man birthdate comes up with. I won't judge you.
Oh, well. This post has certainly taken my mind off the worrying current affairs news headlines today!
ReplyDeleteI breastfed one of my sons on a Qantas plane to Rockhampton back in1975. He was hungry..
ReplyDeleteMind you back in the day there were also non smoking sections in the plane. Go figure how that works. for the non smoker.
Anyway breasts are lovely, so are bottoms that are well shaped. Mine isn’t by the way! Just had a week in the tropics . Breasts, bums fattest guts ever were on full display. Don’t like? Don’t look. The fattest mens guts were fascinating . How does it happen?
Men here can go shirtless. If a woman does she get in trouble for indecent exporure.
ReplyDeleteFlorida man attacks mother with 22 sausages.
ReplyDeleteBreastfeeding should be encouraged. No woman should ever feel disrespected for feeding her baby. It's those who protest about it who should have to hang out in the lavatories.
well now, did the mother have 22 sausages and he attacked her for that? Or did Florida man (small m) have 22 sausages and attacked the mother with them?
DeleteI can believe this sadly, nothing seems to change much. I hated breastfeeding in public but I did it anyway. Nobody ever told me to use the bathroom. I probably had a fuck off face on:)
ReplyDeleteWas it the cousin or the blanket that pushed the man over the edge?
Maybe the blanket, Pixie. Men can be very precious about such things.
DeleteCorporate training failed
ReplyDeleteThere is a woman here who crochets these: https://share.google/images/HFJSHx4MeMA98Xj21
ReplyDeleteWhy on earth did it even matter if the woman was being discreet?
My headline: Florida Man climbs to top of playground equipment to tell children where babies come from in vulgar terms
Mine came up as Florida Man sentenced to life for killing a man over dog poop on his lawn.
ReplyDeleteIf the woman was being discreet, as most women are, then no one should have said or done anything. Years ago (1990s), not a single person said anything when my daughter breastfed her baby in a restaurant at the table. She was wearing a very loose lightweight shirt and simply tucked him under it. Nothing to see here folks! I really don't get why this is still an issue and why does it make men feel uncomfortable when they stare at breasts as much as they like in playboy magazines and on beaches everywhere with girls and women in bikinis barely covering anything at all.
Left a comment about the dettol for Lola, but here's another tip. Cats prefer their water to be away from their food bowls so it doesn't easily become contaminated. I suggest a bathroom for the water if possible as it will stay cooler. And dry food left out all the time for when she gets the munchies.
ReplyDeleteMother's milk is best it's said so why all the fuss, seems silly to me all this nonsense about mother's feeding their babies, expressing milk in public, it's normal. Some people must live in the dark ages.
ReplyDeleteI came up with a 'game'.
I am not going for a head line. The fact that breasts were made for feeding our young seem to have passed many by.
ReplyDeleteI'm not comfortable seeing people stuffing their faces with food or swigging alcohol in the street.
ReplyDeleteGood grief. Hopefully families don't use fake milk powder for their babies any longer, except in problematic cases. Thus comfort in breastfeeding is more important than ever before,
ReplyDeleteIf this totally natural act offends you LOOK THE OTHER WAY AND KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope the member of staff has received additional training.
ReplyDeleteMine: "A Florida driver was issued a citation when sheriff's deputies determined his truck labeled 'Booty Patrol' too closely resembled a Border Patrol vehicle."
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you about breast-feeding. People need to get over it.
I had hoped we were past this about breast feeding, Andrew.
