Sunday Selections

Well, here we are, another week gone and it's time for Sunday Selections again with River at the helm.

Mine aren't random this week but show an impressive sound and light show I saw at Melbourne Town Hall. I was there for about thirty minutes in total. The action was on the main floor of what I guess is the Town Hall ballroom. As I was leaving, the door person asked if I enjoyed the display and I said yes, and she then directed me to the stairs to climb to the balcony. I've been up there before. She asked if I could manage the stairs, and there our relationship cooled, as I felt like slapping her. I exaggerate, and there was a lift which I noticed later.

From the balcony I had an overview of the display. But first a photo of Jass I took around the same time.

I am not sure which photos were taken from above and which were taken at ground level. No matter. You get the idea. The music was themed to whatever the lights were doing.

The music was loud, and it needed to be to create the atmosphere.

It was a little unsettling at times, as I heard the sound of Martian laser guns that I remember from the 70s or earlier.

Slipped in was some music from the movie ET, a film that made me cry. I just searched for ET and a question people had asked, 'Is the movie ET a true story?'. God help us.

The ballroom is quite lovely.

Sunday Selections

River and others post Sunday Selections. Here is my bloomin' lot this week.

There are saucepan lids for my forty year old saucepans. No need to use my best china.

Phyllis, what have you done to my gleaming and sparkling saucepans?

Yes, just what you want to see as you open your fridge first thing in the morning. Is it Julius?

Cats prefer running water as it won't have bacteria that still water might have. Think creek as against stale water in a puddle.

In the living/dining area, there are fourteen seats of various varieties, yet these two often choose the floor. Kosov has had a head shave since this was taken and looks much better.

When entering my apartment, tradespeople offer to take their shoes off. I say, don't bother. It's fine. That's a polite way to act. Truth be told, just check for shoes taken off at the door as a guide, as Phyllis's and Kosov's guests did.

Another photo of the old and the new, taken on my return trip on the 58 from the zoo.

Today I will go to town to buy some new more comfortable walking/daily shoes. Mine look ok, but they aren't comfortable even after adding an insole. Yes, I went for the cheapest. This time I won't. Later I am meeting my Indian friend who is the same age as me, and my Hairdresser Friend at a gay hotel for a Sunday afternoon drink. We may kick on for some Asian food in Victoria Street, Richmond.

I suppose I am still alive as I do keep doing things.

Sunday Selections

River and others participate in Sunday Selections and here is my contribution this week.

A surprise dinner for me arrived, and very tasty it was too. Note the label "Smokey inspired BBQ chicken", not a smoked barbeque chicken.

The major shopping street of our poshest suburb has a cigar shop, and what a lovely exterior it has and I am sure the interior is very nice. It is pity it is all so dark. Just trust me.

There'd be dinosaurs.

Promoting a musical instrument shop.

What a grave mistake we made to interfere in what wasn't our business, but it certainly wasn't any reflection on those who fought and were conscripted and forced to fight.

You can just see the No Smoking sign inside the fence of the Smokin' Hut Cafe.

After using plastic coated light weight metal clothes airers for years, needing to use a second smaller one when Phyllis and Kosov moved in, the smaller one broke, so while this one was about $45 and I did hesitate, it is great and this single one is enough drying space.

Is Phyllis trying to get rid of more of my stuff? No, just out for a wash in the dishwasher as they were getting dusty.

One of these remote control cars took ten AAA batteries to power it and the other four AA. I think they may have been returned to the store as I only saw them once.

How awkward. Given the traffic flow is in one direction, towards the top of the photo, how did this car get here.

The car driver is wearing an overcoat as details were exchanged. I always remove coats and jackets when driving. I feel they restrict my movements.

Sunday Selections

As usual I am joining with River and others for Sunday Selections. Now what do I have to show you?

This cat toy has a a motor to make the arm move about and a red laser pointer. Jass found it uninteresting, until we removed the arm, disabled the laser and put cat treats inside the toy, which has an opening for the treats to fall out. She has become quite adept at patting the ball around to get the treats.

Sorry cocky, we don't feed the native wildlife.

Oh what a mess at the back of public telephone box.

I didn't even know you could text from a public phone. Public phones are now free in Australia, as they make huge amounts of money by being covered in advertising.

Kosov now has the full set.

Phyllis bought a bus.

Luggage hatch open.

Mirrors swung out.

Interior lighting on.

Jass rather likes Kosov's old laundry basket.

When one's car is in use by someone else, it is quite quick to visit Bunnings in West Footscray by the Metro tunnel train. Finding something historic is a bonus.

Sunday Selections

Lot's of photos yesterday, so not too many today. River hosts Sunday Selections, and along with the memory of Sue, here are my few contributions. This is one very large pot of chicken biryani, which served several meals.

The failed and pretentiously named St Collins Lane has been reinvented after the failure of its major draw tenant, the English department store Debenhams. I think I bought something there once. Downstairs now it seems to be an upmarket bowling alley and amusement parlour. But at ground level I was excited to discover another Gillies and Marc sculpture.

Oh Jass. This is after we shaved off the earlier damage.

Before I get into the shower each morning, Jass wants a drink from the tap. See that the handle is pointed to hot but it takes quite some time for hot water to reach the basin and she departs.

Remember Vanilla Bean? I don't expect you would. I have formed an attachment to VB.

Not so much Amber.

Phyllis bought a new colour. I'll just stick to black, thanks.

It was still dark outside as I arose with bleary eyes. Whatever the barrier is, I have no time for something like a password to remove it. It is too hard to read in the very bad photo. It said,
No entry without password.
_ _ g_.
Kosov, is it dogs? Pugs? Bugs? Bags?
"No, Onnndrew. It is hooogs, (hugs)." Kosov needs lots of hugs.
