Sunday Selections

Elephant's Child, River and others participate in Sunday Selections.

What and where, I do not not know. Interesting...

Mixing old buildings with new buildings can be very fraught, and in my opinion often fails. I don't really know if this building stands alone, but I am glad it stands.

The lamp, which is not turned on, and the candle holders are originals. The coloured glass pieces are not, but I really like them.

My view was enhanced when the blinds were away being cleaned.

Making a liar out of me, greens are used in Phyllis' cooking but they go into what is being cooked rather than be served separately.

I immediately sent a message to Snap, Send & Solve, so I guess the graffiti was quickly removed. I am not sure what India has to do with anything.

You used to be able to browse Rose Chong's shop. Now it is by appointment.

This was an exhibition promoting last years Melbourne Fashion Week, with hats supplied by Rose Chong.

While the cheque is made out to Ray, I think I can still deposit it to my bank account, but I don't really know if it would be accepted. I forget the date but I would guess twenty years ago, plus. I missed that it is a Bank Cheque, so maybe I can't claim the $1.20.

This is the Mexican promotional ship Cuauhtémoc moored at Melbourne's Station Pier in October 2024. As I recall, sailors climbed masts, and with lighting and booming music, would sing. The ship came to grief after travelling under Brooklyn Bridge, NYC, sadly with sailor lives lost and injuries.

Yep, it looks like the end of the lane to me. The warning is clear.

I would normally leave such truths to Bob, who isn't quite as vulgar as this poster. But it has to be said, I met a cousin of Ray's who was a Trump admirer, though that was in 2023.

Why do British people like Donald Trump?

Ah, this man! Well, obviously I am not entitled to speak on behalf of any other British person and I’m not arrogant to do so. Therefore you are stuck with my own personal views, which, I must warn you are rather strong and base.

Sit tight, it’s going to be a bumpy ride (said the actress to the bishop).

Firstly a couple of facts:

Trump was found liable for the sexual abuse of writer E. Jean Carroll. Trump is a sexual abuser.

Secondly, Trump was found guilty of falsifying business records, becoming the first US president (former at the time) to be convicted of a crime.

Now my opinion:

Trump is a fat, orange faced, thick, fucktard, bastard, wank puffin, cockwomble, cunt chops, walloper, wank stain on humanity, bawbag, shite stained cunt.

Regarding the above, I’ve described the best of him.

Love and peace fellow humans (and Celtic fans 😂)

  1. Cheques are only valid for a year so your bank should refuse that one - no matter whose name it is made out in.
By appointment only suggests that Rose Chong is definitely desirable.
Love the second to last line in the diatribe against Trump.

    1. Thanks EC. I won't bother wondering where I put the cheque. Yes, while the writing is crude, how could one disagree with with the person's adjectives.

  2. Interesting selections; I especially like that building you showcased. Architecture fascinates me no end. :) Be well!

    1. Darla, I wish I could remember where the building was. I can find out but it takes time.

  3. One of the things that I loved about the UK is that mishmash of old and new architecture. Here, most often, you will see historical restrictions. As in 'if you are installing a new building, the architecture needs to fit with the old'. Or if you have an old building, you cannot modernize it. Or historical towns that deem all buildings within must fit with the theme. Time has never stopped, has it? It is a continuum, and I appreciate the old AND the new. Seeing them side by side reminds me that the years go fleeting by.

    1. Debby, some areas in England have extremely strong restrictions, as they should have. We have quite a few too. But there is pressure to put huge tall buildings where there are buildings such as I showed. The think is, the older buildings if maintained well will last centuries, unlike modern buildings. Old and new can sit side by side, but the new must respect the old, not clash with it.

  4. The costumes and the arts you identified are great pieces to admire. Trump got the ticks and approval from UK lot.

    1. Roentare, I think since he began his second term in office, in the UK support for him will have pretty well evaporated.

  6. A twenty year old cheque? Try cashing it anyway. I saw that ship on the news and in the paper the next day, so sad about the sailors dying.
I'm glad there are greens in the food the boys cook, I suspected there might be, but you are used to "salad on the side".

    1. River, yes, salad on the side and pumpkin, carrots, peas, beans and broccoli. I don't miss cabbage and cauliflower. I do get the aforesaid vegies in my meals on wheels.

  7. 20 years? Too bad undeposited checks don't collect interest.

  8. When the blinds were away being cleaned, you can see what a super view you have. And where to drink coffee, sitting in the sun. I would only close the blinds to block the light when you want to go to sleep.

    1. Hels, when we first moved here, we used to close the blinds but soon realised no one could really see inside, so why. Now, just against the morning summer sun.

A lot of people think Iran, India, Israel, Iraq, etc. are all the same!

    1. Pradeep, I do get a little confused about Iran and Iraq at times, but really? India and Israel?

  10. I am glad to see greens being added to your gourmet meals. Well done Phyllis.
PS I don't know a single person over here who likes or admires Trump. Perhaps I don't move in the right circles?

    1. JayCee, I don't know any #47 supporters either, especially now. I know plenty who think he is a dangerous madman, and those who would like to kick in panels of a Tesla car.

  11. You have a wonderful outlook from your apartment.
As for the orange one, how long before he proclaims himself king, or emperor? He's certainly very high-handed and entitled and has surrounded himself with a crowd of sycophants.

    1. JB, while not an image we want to see, he could become an Emperor with no clothes. Haven't emperors always surrounded themselves with sycophants?

  12. You would have a good view there without the blinds and certainly more light. Guess you would keep them open anyway.
Good to see those greens there to be cooked in the meal.
The cheque, well that is an old one for a very small amount, you could keep it as souvenir.

    1. Yes Margaret, I don't close the blinds at all, unless against the morning summer sun. I might have already shredded the cheque. I can't remember.

  14. I love how you're sometimes not sure where or when some photos were taken, or what they show (like the top one). You must be pulling these from your archives?

I love your view without the blinds. Do you even need blinds? It seems you're high up enough that they may be unnecessary. (Unless you want to keep the sun out.)

Sad to say, I'm pretty sure a 20-year-old bank check is non-negotiable. Maybe just keep it as a souvenir. :)

    1. These are mostly from late last year, Steve. I've checked, and say the photo I mentioned, the time was 11.57 on 25/02/25. My phone tells me I was in the Victorian Pride Centre for five minutes to look at a new art exhibition. Clearly the art didn't appeal to me, as this was the only photo I took. So, I can work out the details of a photo if I've forgotten, but it takes time.

Yes, blinds are needed on the lounge room windows for the morning summer sun, until noon on the longest day but barely a sliver on the shortest day.

  15. Trump is a monster that I hope will soon solve himself in a puff of unpleasantness. I too like to see the old building still standing of course. Maybe I'm just taking it personal? Thanks for reporting the graffiti. Sloganeering does not bring light. Here's to better days ahead. I hope neither you or I are anywhere near our end. I still want to see what's going on and enjoy another morning
