Along with Sami and others, here is my Monday Mural contribution.
Billy Slater looks a bit interesting. While he has an unappealing to me, a bulky body, he was much trimmer when he was young. Err, so was I.
Right, he plays NRL football. I have to think. Former blogger and now friend in Sydney, will be ready to slap me if I get this wrong. NRL is National Rugby League. Rugby League is quite different to Rugby Union, with League being much more popular. I think Rugby Union is more rough and played by posh private school boys, say like lads who attended Sydney Grammar School. But I don't think all boys at SGS played Rugby Union.
I assumed he was a Sydney player but he plays or did play for Melbourne Storm. I'm bored with Slater now.
This is the mural. It's rather good, methinks. After all that, I wonder if it is just a vinyl poster, produced from a media image?

ReplyDeleteActually Andrew you are right to an extent, in the olden days Rugby was amateur footy and was played by GPS schools in Sydney . Nowadays anyone plays both and both are professional sports. Magnificent MÄoris play Rugby and they excell iat it Rugby sometimes are better behaved than those that play the meatheads sport, rugby league,

ReplyDeleteWe do not have rugby here, but I think your chap looks quite joyous in a very sturdy way. And Bob is right. He does look like he's holding a broccoli over his head.
ReplyDeleteYou could have asked the owners of those vehicles to shift them so that you could get better shot. Has Billy Slater got a tattoo on his chin or is that graffiti scrawl?
