The Florals

Every year a nearby residential building has a beautiful display of flowering azalea.

Lunch with Bone Doctor at the marvellous Acorn Nursery, and I bought this potted plant for my balcony. I can tell by not many new flower stalks about three weeks later, it won't last too long, and then I will buy some glorious petunias.

No where on the label was a common name, but Hippie Niece, who had worked in parks and gardens, when visiting told me it is an African Daisy.

The cyclamen is now down to three blooms, and with respect to River, I will say no more.

These came at a very cheap price from Aldi. Phyllis was most impressed when the buds eventually opened. As I write this, he had been in the kitchen cooking for three hours. I will eat his food tonight...I've forgotten the name of the grub. I think he is making food for another night or two, as well.

  1. Some very pretty flowers there. Ours are all fading fast, but the bees were still busy on the lavender and Passion flowers, I worry for them
( the bees ) that they'll stay out too late and perish in the dropping temperatures. I guess they know when it's time to get back to the hive.

  2. May the cyclamen hang in there a little bit longer.

  3. So pretty. You're heading into spring, and we are heading into autumn.

  4. Flowers are lovely Andrew. I can never get a cyclamen to return to it's former glory the year after, so don't buy them anymore. What a pity.
    Azalea hedge does look good.

  5. The red daisies look exactly like a whole bed of them I photographed here in the grounds last week. Do you have anyone you can give the cyclamen to? If planted under a tree where it gets dappled sun it will live quite a long time even in a pot, though maybe a slightly larger pot.

  6. The African daisies are cool. I hope they last but if not, buy some more. Even better, when house guests ask what type of wine to bring you, say no thanks.. but red daisies would be gorgeous.

  7. Azaleas are my favourite garden plants. Always a delight.
We have an osteospermum (African Daisy) in our garden too, a purple variety. It flowers really well too.

  8. It's nice to see your signs of spring! We have an Osteospermum but ours is orange. I'm undecided whether to try to see it through the winter.

  9. Our flowers are coming towards an end which is always sad. The basil is still flowering which the bees love.

Late night shenanigans

Hey, it wasn't me riding the chair in the car park, but alcohol was involved.  I had been to the building's Christmas gathering barb...
