Monday Mural/Music

Joining with Sami and others for Monday Mural.

I'll keep it topical with our recent visit to Geelong. In McLarty Place off the super trendy and popular Little Malop Street is a mural of the late and great Chrissy Amphlett. I pointed it out to Hippie Niece and she did remember her for some song that I did not know. I added, there was of course her most famous song, It's a Fine Line between Pleasure and Pain. Haha, Auntie Andrew. You never surprise me.

And now to the Divinyls video clip featuring the locally Geelong born and fabulous talent Chrissy.

  1. She died too young - and I hadn't realised that the disease we share stopped her from having chemotherapy or radiation for breast cancer.

    1. EC, yes very sad and so premature. I did not know what you know about her medical treatment.

  2. I had never heard of her before but watching and listening to The Divinyls video, Chrissy was clearly a sassy frontwoman. Sad she went so young.

  3. That mural is lovely. I did not visit that street. I was exploring the bay with a lot of dead seaweeds on the shore

    1. Roentare, my Geelong visit sounds better than yours. I have shown nearby murals before and I have a couple of new ones to show, taken during our visit.

  4. Okay so I’m one of the few who did not ‘know’ this person. The mural is a good way to showcase her life - there’s a long entry on Wikipedia that gave me all the details I’d missed out on

    1. Cathy, such is our age difference, me being so young as you know. Should I read the Wiki? Maybe not.

    1. Lordy Caro. I knew that but had forgotten it. Long haired stompy wompy or something like that.

  6. I remember the song but didn't remember who sang it. Interesting to know Little Pati was her cousin, she of the 'Stompy wompy real gone surfer boy' fame.

    1. I am not picky about forty or fifty year ago memories.

  8. I remember her, and the band, mostly for "I Touch Myself". Did not know she was no longer with us.

    1. Interesting that you know of her Kirk. I'd forgotten about I Touch Myself, even though I frequently do so.

  9. Nice mural Andrew. A great singer who died too young. Thanks for contributing to Monday Murals.

  10. Great mural! I had never heard of her or the song, either.

    1. Jackie, I can see why the song wouldn't appeal to the northern American market at the time.

  11. Thank you for the video! What a talent. It hurts my heart that she, EC, or anyone suffers multiple sclerosis. Why can't a cure be found?

    1. Of course you asked a rhetorical question Darla, but it is not a nice disease and I admire EC for continuing to live as she does with rare complaints about her lot in life.

    1. Diane, it is sad. So much talent is lost at a young age.

  13. I remember the band but I don't think I've heard of her individually. Now I'll have to do some reading and listening to become better acquainted with her work!

    1. Steve, you do that. I like her a lot but I am not that interested.

ANZAC Day 2024

This is a somewhat different type of war song, about a war I can more closely relate to.  We will remember them.
