I never know what goes on in my home. As I sit here at my desk, I am in the firing line of little pet toys thrown for Jass for to retrieve after a chase and then to ignore. I am more used to dogs retrieving and demanding another throw. Cats don't retrieve, but still want another throw.
Sunday Phyllis asked me to drive him to pick up a Christmas tree, an ornamental one of course. I think by the box size and the weight, it is huge. It came with a box of decorations and Christmas lights. I'm afraid!
Monday Phyllis and Kosov were up shortly after 5am to catch a train to a business where Phyllis would be assisting at a tyre recycling business. Kosov went along just to make sure Phyllis got there ok, and because he loves him. I would have said, 'Don't make a noise when you leave'. Phyllis discovered there is wire braiding inside tyres. He had the tiny scratches on his arms to prove it. He declared it was hard physical work, and it was only an unpaid trial.
Kosov returned and had to go to work in the late evening. Yesterday, Tuesday, Kosov went to work Phyllis' shift, while Phyllis stayed home and took notes for Kosovo's university studies. I know if I asked why, I would not receive an answer I could understand.
In a way I told Phyllis to stop buying stuffs, in fact to get rid of some stuffs, and a crate has been filled with junk to go to the charity shop.
Today will be an early start as sometime between 7.30 and 8.00, tradies will arrive to install the new a/c. I am a bit excited. I received a $150 credit from the government for replacing an old unit with a more energy efficient model. Still, it is costing a good bit but the old unit is over 12 years old, has become noisy, and my worst nightmare is to be without heating or cooling. When the former unit broke down 12 years ago, it was weeks before a new on could be installed. We bought two cheap electric fan heaters to use in the meantime and end up with a horrendous electric bill.
I am going away on holidays at the weekend, my first proper holiday since Ray died. A plane and train will be involved. I am a little excited, quite apprehensive but quietly confident. I have no one to concern myself about except for myself. If I screw up, it is down to me.
Sue loved balloons, so here are some balloon photos.

Enjoy your holiday and relax.
ReplyDeleteGlad you will have a new air conditioner, with summer coming. As for Phyllis and Kosov, they remain a mystery:)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful holiday.
Those boys are destined to keep you on your toes.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to reading about your holiday.
Bit early for a Xmas tree isn't ? Anyway have a great holiday.
ReplyDeleteGetting in early. I will forbid it to go up more than two weeks before Christmas.
DeleteHaving two other people in the house is a great idea, but a holiday alone will be totally refreshing. Are the plane and train both going to be in Australia? Take some great photos.
ReplyDeleteYes Hels, Sydney.
DeleteEnjoy your holiday. I can't help thinking you might return to a decorated Christmas tree.
ReplyDeleteBetter not be.
DeleteEnjoy yourself Andrew, a big adventure without your Ray, I am looking forward to your posts about it. Love Sue's balloons.

The balloons are a lovely remembrance of and for Sue. We will miss her so.
ReplyDeleteYOU have the best vacay ever. We'll leave the light on for you.
It's nice that you showed balloons for Sue. Where are you off too by plane and train? Have a wonderful time wherever you go.
ReplyDeleteJust Sydney.
DeleteGlad to see you have a new AC, well in time before the temperature shoots up.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your holidays. I am looking forward to your posts about the vacation.
(My latest post: A coffee spill that nearly ruined an interview)
With two other people living in the same place as you stuff adds up, nice to recycle. Have a wonderful holiday and you deserve a good one.
ReplyDeleteYes Andrew, that was a moonshot taken that same day. Full moon harvest Moon. It's amazing to see that even though impaired and with dementia, my husband's charm is affecting everyone at the care home and he is the favorite. I'm so lucky to be with such a sweet man for 40 years. Thank you for being an example of carrying on my friend! Aloha to you and to the boys
ReplyDeleteCloudia, that is great about your husband. Yep, some of us have been lucky with love in life.
DeleteThis is such a charming collection of daily life, full of interesting, slightly chaotic moments, isn't it? The cat wanting the toy thrown but refusing to retrieve it, that's classic cat behavior. A huge ornamental Christmas tree and a box of lights already, I'm a little afraid for you too, that sounds like a big project. Phyllis's early morning trial at the tyre recycling place sounds brutal, especially with the wire braiding, an unpaid trial is certainly physical work. I hope the new A/C installation goes smoothly and quietly today, and a $150 government credit is always nice. Most importantly, I'm so glad you're taking a proper holiday this weekend, a plane and a train, that sounds wonderfully exciting, apprehensive is totally normal, but you'll do great, enjoy every moment.
ReplyDeleteThe temps are going to be reasonable tomorrow so having tradies remove your heating supply shouldn’t be too much of a hardship
ReplyDeleteHow are you getting up to Tullamarine - airport bus?
Cathy, it was going to use a rideshare, Didi, but neighbour HH has offered to drive me. She is always picking up or taking some family member to the airport.
DeleteA holiday, how lovely, I hope you have a very good time
ReplyDeleteAlison in Devon x
The lads certainly keep you entertained, Andrew.
ReplyDeleteA trip will be good!
Sue loved balloons and flowers and bubbles and birds. Lovely tribute to post the balloons. I remember decades ago, we could still find tire pieces along the roads without the reinforcement wire and make them into sandals. I did this at times, but I had a friend obsessed with it, but who then had to get a saw that would cut through wire, to continue.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your holiday. It will be exciting to hear your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteThe kids won't always make sense, we certainly didn't when we were that age. Enjoy the trip. I still need to ride in a hot air balloon.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your holiday, you deserve a nice time away. I will enjoy hearing about it as will many others.
ReplyDeleteI hope for you that you can really enjoy your holidays, I did the same but shortly after Ricks passing, I went to Djerba, to put myself together. I had sunshine, a good hotel and a SPA treatment. All supposed to be good for my health. It was OK. Now 2 years after his dead, I don't dare to travel alone, it's strange, I always traveled alone, but I knew he was at home and if something would happen he was there. Now I am alone, so I stay here and comfort me with the beautiful park. I don't know, maybe I will travel next year ? Some cats bring the ball back, as our cat Arthur, Rosie put her mice in the water bowl, and Pookie brought a mouse back too, unfortunately a real one !
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear more about your holiday!
