Lots of questions. I like the trees reflected in the pupil of the eye though. And lean towards a rat. Definitely a dirty rat with the skull and the weapon...

Aren't possums supposed to "play possum", i.e., pretend they're dead to avoid an enemy? This one is armed and ready to fight their enemy. I say rat.
