I'm joining in with Sami and others for Monday Mural. There is a link at Sami's blog to see murals all over the world and I am sure there are some excellent murals but a retired person has a lot to fit into a day.
In 'artwell, 'ereford and 'ampshire, murals 'ardly ever 'appen.
But there are some in Hartwell and I've been past them a number of times and not noticed them, until I did. There are four murals at this location, two today and the others another day.
They are a bit faded, but who of us isn't? They must be quite old.
Toorak Road is so busy. It is hard to take a photo without a car in the frame.
I buggered up the publish time again. Entirely my fault.
ReplyDeleteIt's good that those skilful murals have not been spoilt by the scrawl of self-obsessed taggers.
ReplyDeleteYP, that is a good observation. The murals are in a rather posh area, so less chance I guess.
DeleteThey may be old but they have lost none of their appeal.
ReplyDeleteNowt wrong with faded glory, is there JB?
DeleteThey are so much more attractive than the original bare walls.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely JayCee.
DeletePretty birds!
ReplyDeleteThey are TP, and rather exciting to see.
DeleteIn an under pass here the Council commissioned an artist to paint a mural, unfortunately it was never finished so was scribbled over, shame because it was a superb sea scene.
ReplyDeleteThat is a shame Chris. Murals don't seem to dominate your country as they do here. I wonder why?
DeleteThis is exactly how people travelling by car would view it!
ReplyDeleteQuite so ME.
DeleteThe thing that amazes me about murals is the closer you get to them, the more detail you see. Those are beautiful. The part that I love the best is that 'they are old' but they are not defaced! Perhaps being in a busy road does the trick.
ReplyDeleteThat is quite true for most murals Debby, about getting closer. They are at street level and so easy to be tagged. It may be that it is an expensive area, or that they are just so good, being the reason why they aren't tagged.
DeleteI love that big bird! (Is it a kookaburra, maybe?)
ReplyDeleteIt is Steve, and the sound of them, as I heard on Saturday, excites Australians.
DeleteI really like these. And I am definitely feeling faded. lol Thank you for sharing these.
ReplyDeleteDarla, I am sure you look thoroughly gorgeous.
DeleteThese are nicely done and the fading just adds to the effect.
ReplyDeleteYes Pat. I wonder what they looked like when new and bright.
DeleteNot so faded that I can't enjoy the artwork.
ReplyDeleteKirk, perhaps you are faded but I could still enjoy your visage.
DeleteYou missed the punchline to that bit of My Fair Lady. It's:
ReplyDelete"'ardly HEVER 'appen. "
A minor muck up MC. I didn't apply myself. "He is a clever and talented pupil, but needs to apply himself better to his studies". The story of my life.
DeleteI like this one. It adds so much to its surroundings. I wouldn't have put you down as a My Fair Lady fan.
ReplyDeleteMarie, I am not a fan of musicals but my first love is the film Cabaret with Lisa and my second is My Fair Lady. I learnt to play 'On the street where you live', or whatever it is called on the piano. My playing was perfunctory and without any nuance or passion. However it was more tuneful than me singing along with it. "Just you wait 'enry 'iggins. Just you wait."
DeleteVery lovely murals, or is it one longer mural? Two of my favourite birds.
ReplyDeleteQuite separate murals River. Don't we love our Kookas.
DeleteThey are lovely even though they are faded a little..
ReplyDeleteThe heavy traffic must drive past them Margaret without ever seeing them, as we have done.
DeleteVery impressive ones.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pradeep. I see some quite good murals in your country too.
DeleteThey still look great and the birds are beautifully painted. Love the kookaburra :) Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Andrew
ReplyDeleteThank you Sami. Faded can be good.
