The gay lifestyle

There isn't a gay lifestyle and nor is there a gay community.

Nothing more to say aside from aren't I in a grump today!

Well, that was last night. It was a crap day in so many ways.

  1. Oh I'm sorry. I wondered about those strange ways to just describe reality, the way it is, why describe it as a lifestyle like its a choice. It's like saying I live the cat trappers lifestyle or the poor person's lifestyle or.....I don't know. Sorry your day was crap.

    Andrew,
Is there any such thing as a gay lifestyle? We certainly don’t live it We consider we are just normal people living a traditional life . Your life sounds like that too. . Wasn’t a beautiful moon last Friday night? Look after yourself and R

  7. The pop culture is just a facade. Life goes on and most of us just do a step at a time.

    1. Roentare, sometimes I think life is just a facade.

  8. And the tyranny of labels strikes again. Why do certain people insist on labelling and putting everyone in boxes. Hardly helps to create a harmonious inclusive society.
I do hope today is better for you.

    1. Indeed Caro, although I am quick to stick labels on people too. I just hate media saying things about the 'gay community', as if we were one.

  10. A gay lifestyle implies that it's a choice when it's not, so I'm with you there. A gay community? No gay is forced to "join" one, but I take comfort in knowing that such political and social entities exist. Why go it alone in a sometimes hostile world if you don't have to?

    1. Kirk, groupings of gay people for a reason is fine with me, be it social or quite necessary to represent gay people. Just don't think of us all alike and because we are gay, we are connected and all get along just fine. We are diverse as the rest of society.

  11. I am with Kirk. Having a community to provide support and friendship is important to everyone, gay, black, Chinese, Jewish, Islamic, elderly or horse-racing fanatics. Choosing to have friends for a weekend social life is a pleasure.

    1. Yes Hels, but what or where is my community? What is it called? We are very low on friends, but that is ok.

  13. Of course there is a gay lifestyle. Don't you remember the advertisement from decades ago: "boys and girls come out to play, happy and gay the laxette way"
If that doesn't cheer you up then go straight back to bed.

    1. Oh gosh River. I had forgotten that ad. Laxettes being used on a regular basis for children just sounds so wrong now. Better than cod liver oil, I suppose.
