Some pride in old posts

There were a few posts in my former blog of which I was quite proud, as they took a lot of research. They weren't particularly popular though.

This one about the late artist Mirka Mora and a demolished building. I admit it is a confusing read, but I am rather pleased with the substance. The comments were the icing on the cake. The post may take some time to load at Trove.

Loved Mirka Mora and her work. We have so many books about her. She lived the most fabulous and interesting life. I am always filled with such admiration for Jewish people who escaped from Nazi Germany to Australia and their contribution to Australia. The Jewish museum near you Andrew is a great place to visit and research as well . I get an Instagram feed from them .

On another Art note we were in Melbourne last weekend to see the Bonnard exhibition .
Try to see it if you can . There were plenty of seats throughout the exhibition . In fact one person was having a nap 💤 on a sofa. It is a beautiful and calm exhibition with some earlya film and photographs in the exhibition as well

If Yum Cha is your thing I think you might like Wong Baby at South Yarra on a Saturday for lunch . Have a look

    1. Stalker, I've been to the museum a couple of times. I've not been to the Holocaust museum yet though. It has just reopened.
Bonnard sounds interesting but so many things do and we don't do much now.
I do like Yum Cha and I've noted Wong Baby.

  3. We used to live around the corner in Robe Street in the mid 70's. Fitzroy St has so much history. Thank you for sharing this little bit.

    1. Living in Robe Street is quite acceptable. Working in Robe Street in the '70s, may be not.

  5. I vaguely remember the post but when I clicked the link and read I didn't see any comment from me so perhaps I missed it or just didn't comment as I sometimes do when the subject matter doesn't interest me.

  6. Research takes time but is very satisfying. I wonder why the French haven't laid claim to their history in Australia. What dastardly deeds did they commit?

    1. After the Dutch and Portuguese JB, I think the French came next but did not claim the land. I suggest their loss.

  8. I lot of research went into that one. The fate of older buildings is often complex. If it had been a diplomatic post the French may have wanted it torn down when they moved out. I looked at an apartment in a building that had previously been home to staff at an embassy, when it was redone the developer removed a parking space full of hidden safes.

    1. Very interesting TP, and what wealth was in the safes, I wonder.

  9. Well done on your research. I did a quick bit myself and enjoyed learning about Mirka Mora's life. :D She seems to have been quite a character I'd have enjoyed meeting.
