Not really funny, but cut to the core.
These I stole from blogger Bob, who I guess stole them from somewhere else.
I am not sure why Florida became a gay mecca, and an old person's mecca, so hot and humid for most of the year and you can be eaten by an alligator on the street. As for Texas, why would you want to live somewhere where you have to run your air con cooling every day, every week, every year, constantly. Hideous, never mind the leaders of these states.
How very true. And how interesting that I can smile and wince (and rage) simultaneously.
ReplyDeleteEC, yes I get the conflicting emotions. The second photo really got to me. All those conservatives who worship traditional America, including women cheerleaders like those in the photo.
DeleteI wonder if bad political leadership is a function of extreme heat and humidity, and not just in Texas. Joh in Qld had a brain that functioned badly every long, hot and humid Qld summer
ReplyDeleteThere may be something in that Hels. Intellectual power seems to come from colder areas, where perhaps people are indoors during harsh winters and have a lot of time to think.
DeleteI'm also an internet thief. I can't help it.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on, and stay safe.
Dora, I try hard to credit someone's very personal photo, but really, how can using photos or works of others be stopped.
DeleteTexas pr Florida seem nightmares to visit. I haven't been to both states.
ReplyDeleteNot places for me Roentare. Maybe New York, San Francisco or Portland might be better.
DeleteYeah I don't get the obsession to sexualize young young kids in beauty shows. How bizarre and sick.
ReplyDeleteSuccinctly put Strayer.
DeleteTis true, I have stolen them from many different places that have also stolen them from others. It's a vicious circle.
ReplyDeleteBob, copyright is a battle lost with some things.
DeleteThe Stalker,
ReplyDeleteMy haiirdresser age 53 married last year in a spectacular white suit is off to Las Vegas to a wedding in 2 weeks time. Celebrant is a drag queen…so Las Vegas …..and my HD is decking himself out in a pink suit , with short pants and patent leather blue shoes . Such fun!
Viva Las Vegas. Wish I was going … That’s living life to the max despite the heat , age and and air conditioning and Florida
Stalker, if your HD sends you a photo of him in his outfit, please forward it to me. I am the soul of discretion.
DeleteSexualising of little children should be given more attention. Let kids be kids, for gods sake. They can work the rest out without influence from those who should know better (like parents).
ReplyDeleteCaro, they are setting their children up to fail, just as badly as the rough parents with a packet of Winfield in their tee shirt sleeves. Personally I think it comes close to child abuse.
DeleteTruth. But if everyone gets their panties in a twist over stuff like that, it allows people not to deal with the big issues.
ReplyDeleteThat is true Debby, but there are people who are just reactive and will never engage in the bigger picture.
DeleteI like that last one and I very firmly believe that beauty pageants for children should be banned.
ReplyDeleteI fully agree River. Kids in full heavy makeup with styled hair should be banned.
DeleteAmen. It's exhausting just listening to shouty people who feel they have a monopoly on sexuality. And much worse than exhausting for the folks being targeted. Those kiddy pageants or whatever they're calling them are so wrong in so many ways.
ReplyDeleteThey are as you describe Jenny. I don't understand the energy they put into such fights. Their energy could be doing good in the world. Kiddy pageants as you name them appall me.
DeleteA few bad states right now.
ReplyDeleteYes, very unfortunate TP.
DeleteI guess if you bang on about divisive or trivial matters you are not addressing the real issues of the day. It is an effective distraction technique.
ReplyDeleteYP, it is very much a distraction but oh, at what cost.
DeleteI agree with the first, laughed at the last and was appalled all over again at the 'beauty pageant' one.
ReplyDeleteJB, there was some low key similar beauty pageant thing happening here a number of years ago, but I think it may have been sensibly stomped on. We don't hear of it now.
DeleteOne former sister-in-law and my estranged brother did the whole pageant thing. My husband and I found the whole scene creepy. Just let kids be kids. Right?
ReplyDeleteIt is creepy, Darla. Indeed, save their innocent childhoods.
DeleteDon't look at those little children dressed up, to me they look ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteIt is just horrible Margaret. Where did that come from?
