Oh dear. The fire seemed closer and last night I wasn't able to find out what structure was alight. This morning it is being reported that a Buddhist temple in Springvale South has been destroyed by fire.

People can be warned about floods and hurricanes, but with fires there are no warnings :(
ReplyDeleteHels, yes fire can be faster than flash flooding.
DeleteThat is so sad. It was a lovely building. It must have been fierce for you to see it all the way in the big smoke.
ReplyDeleteCaro, I was a little surprised it was so far away. I knew it was bad and more than a house fire.
DeleteI saw that on the news. How very sad.
ReplyDeleteEC, interesting that it was reported on interstate.
DeleteOh yes, it's dreadful. All those people's ashes there too, all gone. Saw that there was a fire on Twitter yesterday. Very sad.
ReplyDeleteMargaret, there now does seem some hope that ashes may have survived. As one woman put it, it feels like my father has died a second time.
DeleteThat is so sad.
DeleteDarla, thankfully it seems the ashes in urns are intact.
DeleteWow, quite a huge fire, it's sad and I would imagine a lot of damage to the building.
ReplyDeleteWrite off it seems, Sami and underinsured.
DeleteThat's a shame. There's a building on the left-hand side of your photo that also seems to be on fire, but I suspect that's just a reflection of the sun!
ReplyDeleteSteve, yes we get that happening with different buildings as the the earth rotates.
DeleteWith your view, I would want a telescope
ReplyDeleteTP, in our early days here I nearly bought a telescope but for whatever reason I didn't. The best way to really see something in the view is to zoom in with the proper camera and snap it.
DeleteI saw that devastation on the news last night. Right before I fell asleep again.
