Joining in with Sami for Monday Mural.
This is a bit different for a mural post. I wonder if this Southbank building is slated for demolition. The painting mural screams India to me, but maybe it isn't. What's your opinion?

Jackie in Toronto asked me if I had taken Christmas photos around town. I'd taken a couple but it was a bit hard to be enthusiastic abou...
Not intricate enough for India in my eyes. Lovely to see though.
ReplyDeleteFor once we disagree EC. It looks Indian to me.
DeleteThat building gets a new look every now and then. Love this artistic delight in the concrete jungle. India influence is for sure. How about some Persian?
ReplyDeleteRoentare, you have better knowledge than I do, and you have seen it other guises.
DeleteI agree. There's a suggestion of the colour of The Indian Subcontinent there. Certainly friendlier than the colour of industrial concrete.
ReplyDeleteYP, quite so. Much better than bare concrete but I am not sure Iike it.
DeleteI agree with EC, not intricate enough, but perhaps it isn't finished yet.
ReplyDeleteRiver, it looks a bit faded to me. I think it is finished and due for replacement.
DeleteWhy do people feel the need to decorate buildings? Proper murals and street art can be really interesting. This? Not so.
ReplyDeleteCaro, maybe because the building looks better than just being solid hard masonry.
DeleteIt different. I don't see anything wrong with building.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Glad you approve Dora.
DeleteNot Indian inspired at all…..seemingly from 1970s wallpaper 😊

“The work was commissioned as part of Beta by Sth Bnk, an experimental event series that brings together artists, brands and dining experiences over a six month period.”
As always Cathy, you are brilliant with links. Did you have some 70s wallpaper?
DeleteInteresting! I'm going to check out that link.
DeleteNot wrapped in it at all, rather the building left without the art, it looks not good to me.
ReplyDeleteMargaret, I find it hard to imagine what it might look like without the painting. Maybe it would look better. I don't know.
DeleteQuite a busy pattern, but I suppose it's better than concrete. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Andrew :)
ReplyDeleteBack to a normal mural next week Sami.
DeleteDoes have an Indian folk painting feel to it.
ReplyDeleteME, from the eye of an expert.
DeleteI like it! Especially with what look like neon accents on the front. It would be interesting to see it at night.
ReplyDeleteSteve, yes I would like to see it at night, but I am not making the effort.
DeleteI saw maize on the side and flowers on the front, not Indian. I think it's beautiful, Andrew.
ReplyDeleteOk B&E I'm pleased you like it.
DeleteQuite nice. Definitely one of a kind!
ReplyDeleteMaribeth, yes I've not seen anything quite like that.
DeleteI think the 2nd one would be easier to tolerate on a daily basis if you lived or worked right by it. It's more pleasantly muted than the first.
ReplyDeleteYes, a bit more subtle than the front facing wall.
