A snip from a subsequent post.
I, rather my apartment, is slowly drying out. Fans and dehumidifiers are still roaring away and my daily electric bill has risen from $3 to $30. I will attempt to claim from owners' corporation insurance, but I don't fancy my chances. I could always ask the apartment owner for compensation, but I would add more than just the cost of the electric. Last resort, as an old age pensioner, plead for sympathy from the electricity company for this unexpected event and offer to pay back $20 per electric bill to eventually cover what will be an extraordinary bill.
I had nine industrial fans and two dehumidifiers roaring away 24/7 for eight days.
Finally we dried out.
Oh, Andrew, floods are sheer devastation!
ReplyDeleteAn OAP, seems an outdated phrase. I guess these days a lot of people receiving a pension aren't that old.
ReplyDeleteIt's always pleasant to close those types of chapters. I've been there more times than I can count.
ReplyDeleteHas the core issue been solved? I sincerely hope so.
ReplyDeleteI remember when the upstairs flat flooded during a heavy downpour January 2025, the downpipe from her balcony was clogged with dirt and weeds that had grown up through it via the underground connection pipe which had been broken for years but nobody knew. Her porch flooded to the point where the water got inside and her whole flat was ankle deep in water, I was helping her bail it out while waiting for plumbers to arrive and hoping all the time that no water would seep down int my flat. Thankfully none did. Her mattress was completely soaked, she has it on the floor and doesn't own a bed.
