Tommy Robinson, not his real name, is a far right activist in the UK. I remember lunching at a pub in Whitehall as a protest march passed by, with buses diverted, which I think is quite common in Whitehall. It seemed to be a protest about a certain Tommy Robinson being gaoled. I had no idea who he was.
More than a decade later, I now know about his far right politics and he has served five prison sentences, for assault, threats, harassment, fraud and contempt of court. He became a bankrupt after racking up a lot of gambling debts. He was sentenced to a community service order of 150 hours, and a three year ban from attending football (soccer) matches.
In August 2025, Robinson shared a video on Twitter of a black man and his brother playing with his white granddaughters in a park in North Yorkshire, falsely accusing them of paedophilia, which resulted in the family being racially abused with false paedophilia accusations. Labour MP for Redcar Anna Turley had to write a reference letter of good behaviour after the victim was suspended by his management. Turley stated that there was "no place for hate in our town" and said she was "heartbroken" for the family "who've been targeted and abused because of Tommy Robinson's poisonous lies"
Nice dude hey. No! A nasty piece of work. He's maybe as bad as #47!
Not my business? It is when an Australian became involved, one popular morning tv host, Karl Stefanovic.

Tommy Robinson's record speaks for itself. These people are on the wrong side of history, and they're losing, and they know it.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are correct Steve.
DeleteAnd then we have Jimmy Fallon having Conor McGregor on is show even though McGregor was found guilty of sexual assault. He gets treated like a celebrity on Fallon's show.
ReplyDeleteThat's disturbing to learn Jackie.
DeleteI am so used the media being right wing that I am pleasantly shocked that Channel nine sacked such a high profile celebrity as Karl.
ReplyDeleteIt seems Channel 9's other staff were becoming quite disturbed about Stefanovic's vodcasting, and had logged complaints. He was given a lot of rope, but did hang himself.
DeleteOne thing you should know about Stephen Yaxley-Lennon is that he enjoys the support and financial backing of Musk who has shown an unhealthy interest in British politics, revealing his right wing credentials very clearly. The world would be a better place without those two. I would parachute them into the middle of The Pacific Ocean with nothing but a rubber dinghy and a fishing rod.
ReplyDeleteI do know that YP, and any friend of Musk is automatically my enemy. It is easy to not buy a Musk motor car, but not so easy for many to not use his superior satellite internet service.
DeleteWho even watches Stefanovic , commercial or daytime television?
ReplyDeleteCommercial tv needs advertisements to exist. He was sacked not for his interview of a racist criminal but for the possible lack of advertising partners….its all about revenue and boycott.
Next step will be a day in court to recoup his lost salary….
By the way have enjoyed the last couple of blogs, the topics and the responses . That’s not to say I don’t like the other topics…I do, but as my niece says “changing it up” clears the cobwebs
Does watching YouTube during the day on tv make me bad? I don't watch commercial tv, with the exception of Channel 7's 6pm tv car crash news. I am familiar with Stefanovic but I've never watched the show. His contract was only for one year, for $2 million. He has worked six months, for $1 million. I'd just take the money are run. 9 lawyers could argue he has brought the station into disrepute. Thanks for your nice and encouraging words.
DeleteStefanovic!!!!
ReplyDeleteSure won't be missed by me. His "cheesy Smile???" made me vomit!
Cheers
Colin
PS: You have a very great Blog - always enjoyable.
Thanks Colin. Too kind. I disliked his sugary character as soon as he came to my notice.
DeleteGood Riddance, not a fan of Stefanovic, although I have not seen or heard him for many years. From what I read he has behaved poorly in the past and Nine have never pulled him into line. He was a drain on Nine's finances and revenue, this episode has been a gift to them.
ReplyDeleteYes, yes and yes, Benny. It must be sad for people who really liked him, or do they just ignore his bad form like MAGA ignore #47.
DeleteStefanovic was on the news again last night and I didn't pay any attention, not after an earlier story about his claim to being unfairly sacked and getting a multi-million dollar payout. I never watch channel 9 anyway so don't know anything more about it.
ReplyDeleteRiver, I didn't hear that he is receiving a multi million dollar payout. At best his remaining contract will be paid out, $1 million.
DeleteI think he asked for or wanted more but may have misheard.
DeleteIf he was American, Trump would probably give him a cabinet position.
ReplyDeleteLol Kirk, and probably #47 would.
DeleteI had a hard time understanding this blog post, however Politics is not my intertest. I really appreciate, and I enjoy reading it so far
ReplyDeleteI understand Asep. Try my more photo based posts, like tomorrows.
DeleteHe sounds like a real winner of a guy. Don't think I'd want him out kayaking with me, not someone I'd invite to dinner and I'd probably cross to other side of street if I saw him coming.
ReplyDeleteStrayer, use a walking stick for your bung knee as the poor crippled old lady, and when you see him, check for cctv, and when clear, shoot him in the head, then keep hobbling along.
DeleteI was working at the market today and a group of Australian nationalists appeared out of nowhere waving flags and spouting the usual nonsense. They were clearly there to provoke. As you know the market is very diverse and some people were quite angry (including me). Others didn’t understand what was happening so they asked us. It was very embarrassing having to explain it. Market security had to speak to them twice before they would leave. Bunyip
ReplyDeleteHmmm, most interesting and disturbing, Bunyip. I hope like I didn't understand the protest in Whitehall at the time, I hope people there didn't understand. If I were you, I would have brushed away and tourist questions. 'Just a protest group about something or other'. But then I wasn't actually there and had to deal with it.
DeleteHe is a nasty little toad Tommy Robinson (that is unfair to toads). Whenever wants to describe someone else as horrible they should use Robinson's name. A blatant stirrer upper with the backing of Musk.
ReplyDeleteThelma, a little toad is a good description, and he is a tiny man in more ways than one. How about if someone says something contentious, you reply with, 'Don't be such a Robinson'.
DeleteThey are both creeps
ReplyDeleteFour words, and you've got it right Diane.
DeleteThe worrying thing is that so many people follow unpleasant characters like this. I think Yaxley -Lennon adopted the names Tommy Robinson because they are good, characteristically solid English names. 'Tommy' was the popular nickname for British soldiers. He's an articulate speaker and persuasive and knows which buttons to press. So is Farage. So was Hitler.
ReplyDeleteAustralians in war times used to call British soldiers, Tommys. Farage is a good speaker. I've not heard Yaxley-Lennon speak, but I am sure he too is persuasive.
DeleteI'm not a fan at all of Karl and don't listen to him and never have, if he's been on the TV I turn it off. Hadn't heard of Tommy but he certainly doesn't seem a good person at all.
ReplyDeleteMargaret, Karl was very popular, but like you, I never watched him. I don't do daytime tv. Tommy is just a criminal who can speak well.
DeleteKeep up the good ranting! Waiting for your Sir Keir post, by the way.
ReplyDeleteSir Keef post is written MC. Maybe a polish and maybe Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteI don't know anything about this, but having read the comments above from the people who do, I can only agree! We have one bad apple in every part of the world, unfortunately, and that one person can wreak havoc on the town, etc. Especially when it comes to politics.
ReplyDeleteIf only was just one, Linda.
DeleteI had never heard of Tommy, he's a horrible human being! As for Karl, I've always found him too smug. Good on Channel 9 for not putting up with his antics!!
ReplyDeleteSmug is a good word to describe him Sami.
