Along with Sami and others, here is my Monday Mural post.
I treasure this poor quality photo I took in the mid noughties. I remember seeing it from a passing tram when it was first painted on a blank wall at Kings Cross Plaza across the road in the 1980s or 1990s but it disappeared, and while it came to my mind at times, I couldn't remember where it was. As Kings Cross Plaza was being demolished, ivy was pulled down from the wall, and once again I saw the mural. I was so chuffed.
A posh apartment building was built next door (approaching AU$4,000,000 each now) and said building will outlive me and you, and so this mural will never be seen again by living human eyes. I should try some research about who painted the mural, but where to start.

Very cool! I hate that it will be out of view. As for those optical illusions, I think they are real because of certain things being out of focus, unless AI can manage that level of realism. ~shudder~ I hope you're feeling much better.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely that the mural has reappeared from behind the ivy. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Andrew.
ReplyDeleteA nice find and an interesting one
ReplyDeleteThat is a good mural, I really like it and isn't it nice to see it after the ivy was removed.
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better, Andrew.
It's a great mural and I'm glad it will now live on through you.
ReplyDeleteAustralian muralists are so richly talented as this fantastic artwork demonstrates.
ReplyDeleteGreat work, they need a longer ladder.
ReplyDeleteGone and not to be seen again for centuries. Good one, Andrew.
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful mural and deserves to be preserved.
ReplyDeleteThat is a fun mural -- thanks for photographing it for posterity!
ReplyDeleteAt least you have a record of it!
ReplyDeleteThat is very cool!
