Sunday Supplement

There was a pesky mynah bird nearby, out of the reach of Jass and she did not like its presence. I've never heard a cat make this kind of noise before but have you?

  1. Who settled first in Australia - the mynah bird or the domestic cat?

    1. Hels, introduced to Australia in 1862 to control insect pests in market gardens. So cats would have been here before. Does that sound like a familiar problem?

  2. Hi, yes my cats make those noises, when looking out at birds in the garden and the bird bath. My cats are also indoor cats, although they have a large outdoor run that has different levels...Peta

    1. Good translating Bob. Jass just says it with a cross between an Australian and South Asian accent.

  6. My cats have always made that noise, a chittering noise, when looking through windows at prey they can't get.

  9. I’m surprised you’ve never heard this noise before. It’s very common cat speak for “ I’d catch you if I could get to you!”
