Sunday Selections

Yes, a few days ago I returned home from a pleasant break in Sydney. Obviously more later, but along with River and others, here is Sunday Selections. (excuse me, I left the keyboard for a minute and Jass wanted to type a message to you. I think she meant to say hi) ghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghgh (Andrew told her to get off the keyboard, but she had to have the last word, or rather symbol)

These are just some unused random photos.

March, at Port Melbourne Beach.

An evening with a interesting light.

Animal Hotel, a backpackers' accommodation, has been begoned. I must check what is being built there. I expect the room with the air conditioning unit in the window costs more.

Odd things appear in my apartment at times, which I have no idea of what they are about.

I am always impressed by a moon that shines so brightly in the daylight.

Phyllis? Kosov? Why is there a plastic snake in the laundry trough?
"It began very small Ondreeeww, and has swelled in the water and over the next few weeks. it will get much larger."
I am just glad I don't need the laundry trough, although their washing basket normally sits there and is now on the bathroom floor.

The lads bought me a nice bottle of wine for me for my birthday. There is more on that to come.

But there was an ulterior motive. Phyllis wanted the a second bottle for cooking oil to match his first.

I've probably used this photo before, but Sue, if I am wrong about the afterlife, enjoy it again. It was a very busy balloon day.

With a vague connection to my comment above, this graph pleases me. The bad from religion far outweighs the good, and I do recognise that there is much good on a social and care level from religion.

  1. The last one on religion doing more bad than good is a reaffirming one for me. Happy Birthday to you too.

  3. Port Melbourne beach looks lovely, no algae bloom there. I'd be tempted to get that snake out of there, tell them to buy an aquarium for it. You never know when you might need that laundry tub. The pretty bottle for oil is a nice idea, but I'm a cheapskate so whatever bottle the oil comes in at the supermarket is good enough for me. What are those blue and white things on your counter?
    Welcome home.

    1. River, like I said, things appear and I have no idea what they are used for, and the blue and white whatever are just that.

  4. If I ever put a plastic snake in the sink like that I would definitely be sleeping on the couch

  5. I too like the shape of those bottles but I wouldn't like a cat walking on my keyboard.

The photos are good, like the dome with the sun on it.

  12. Happy birthday Andrew, interesting graph on religion - more bad than good IMO but I believe Leo is a force for good in the world.
The balloon shot reminded me of Sue.
And that weird Animal Hotel gave me the creeps.

  13. Those hostels can be wild and wooly. I love them, have stayed in many, to get a bed on the cheap, worked chores to make it cheaper. Animal House is an apt name. I stayed in one up in Skagway after hiking the Chilkoot trail backwards to Skagway. $5 a night. Coed everything, including the bunk and bathroom, pretty wild.

  16. Happy birthday Andrew!
I dont understand the snake. Is it designed to swell in the water? Why are the boys doing that? Is it there as a joke? Is there a next step?
The light on the dome is beautiful

    1. Kylie, yes. It swells in the water over a period of weeks. It's just something to amuse 'children'.

  17. You are back!!! Yay! Religion does a lot of bad at this point because religion is being confused with power. It has happened elsewhere. Afghanistan. Right now in Israel. I am sick about the damage done.

That being said, the government is shut down here. Trump refuses to release funds that are used to help fund the food stamp program, a program that serves 2 million people in Pennsylvania alone. I am pleased to see that churches are stepping up to collect an distribute food to the needy during this time. A local store has put together a package that will make a Thanksgiving meal for ten people for $40. It is a very hard time for so many right now. I am not sure how this story will end, Andrew. Truly I do not. What I do know is that Christian nationalism has nothing in common with Christianity, no more than zionism has anything in common with Judaism.

    1. At times Debby, prices in America amaze me. Feeding ten people a Thanksgiving meal for $40 is one of them. While that is so good, I am not pleased with people relying on charity. Governments should look after the needy, not charities. But yeah, that has all gone so wrong.
