A wee rant

There are a number of YouTube clips showing Trump voting Americans in great distress as his policies come into force. Once clip I saw showed a Trump voting woman in tears and praying, and asking for prayers, because the father of children and his mother were being deported to Venezuela by ICE.

Another farmer of a large agricultural property said her farming staff had all disappeared and were not coming to work in fear of ICE, and deportation. She thinks her farm will go into bankruptcy, yet she voted for Trump.

There are clips of an almost empty Las Vegas. Canadians are not visiting Florida, and are selling their properties there, getting rid of US timeshares, as one blogmate has done.

There are clips about Canada withholding super phosphate from the US, that is its farmers. While I disapprove of Canada PM's backing down over payments for digital technology, apparently Canada has been working hard to diversify its economy, reaching out and into the rest of the world. What ever the **** rare earth magnets are, they are essential in this modern world and China, being the major supplier,  has stopped exporting them to the US.

Some of these clips show a sense of glee about how the US is seemingly collapsing.

Very reputable news sites, including conservative organisations, are calling out #47's ridiculous claims of how well the US economy is travelling.

Whatever the truth, I too feel glee about Trump supporters suffering, and those who may have voted Democrat, if they got off their arses and actually voted.

But for all of you who voted Democrat, and as is said after school gun shootings, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Seriously, you decent US citizens have my empathy and sympathy, and I'm not judging you by what #47 and his henchfolk are doing.

  1. I have seen many clips recently, presenting different sides of this debacle and I am finding it hard to discern facts from disinformation. My gut feeling leads me in one direction but, oh, I really don't know what to believe any more.

  2. It is an awful place to be in. You can plainly see that it is wrong. You can plainly see the pain being inflicted on others. But I haven't the power to make a difference. I will say this, Andrew...I believe it is going to get worse before it gets better. I also believe it has to. Nothing will change until his base is negatively impacted. We can only put ourselves in a position to weather the storm that is surely coming. my heart breaks for the innocents. My heart does not break for MAGA. They are reaping what they sowed. Excuse me (and delete the comment if you wish) but fuck 'em.

    1. Even then, the MAGAts will transfer the blame to Democrats, one way or another. It will always be our fault.

  5. My son and GD travelled in Southern USA recently .The best bits were tha JFK museum, Little Havana Santa Fe and a trip to the Oppenheimer museum. They love history and were particularly fascinated. By the cultures of Santa Fe. An overnight stop in LA was a most unpleasant experience . Beggars everywhere , so much poverty and drug use .
In Arizona many farms are devoid of workers and restaurants need staff We are so lucky to live in Australia and we need all we can do to live in harmony which is not the case at the moment.

  6. I have huge affection for America and Americans in general but what continues to transpire under Wicked Trump is an epidemic of lies, disinformation, hatred and unkindness. Why even embark on a fake mission to "Make America Great Again" when it was already great?

  7. I qualify for your thoughts and prayers.

  8. I don't understand understand those who vote for Trump. The only person Trump cares for is himself. And I wonder about that rarely.

  9. Well, you are right, its a mess here. And yes, Trumpees get what they voted for and more and the rest of us, we get what they voted for too. It's very sad, horrifying. But the Trump people knew what he would do, knew what he stood for before they voted him in, so they have no excuses at all.

  11. I am surprised at the speed of things done and only hopes it points to an eventual collapse of the present incumbents. Goodness knows what will happen but the next horror is being pulled down by the media. 'Baby face' is definitely not making a good impression.

  12. Russian, Chinese, North Korean leaders met to conspire against the US, Trump published. All the dictators met in China, he said!
Actually the worst dictator wasn't invited.

  13. In the beginning I might have felt some Glee, but as things got worse and worser still, I'm just mostly horrified at the atrocious behaviour by Trump and ICE and very sorry for ALL the people.

  14. I cannot add anything other than my sympathy and hopes that the American public will wake up, think and vote. Mind you, UK is slipping towards the odious Farage.

  15. When we were in the States in 1971 for the first time, we had the impression that they are all crazy (with some exceptions) and that has lasted until today and since Trump trumps I wonder how it's possible to vote for such an unstable person who changes his mind all five minutes !

  17. The man told us exactly who he was when he ran for office the first time so you cannot complain about him if you voted for him, and you cannot complain about him if you didn't vote at all.

  18. How did Americans not know that their agricultural industry survived on the backs of migrant workers and illegal immigrants being paid slave labour wages?

    1. I think "not seeing the help" goes back to the slavery days, when the white people enjoyed all their little luxuries being done for them by unseen slaves. They know they are there, they know they are doing the work they don't want to do (perhaps they think it's "beneath" them?) but they don't "see" it until the workers are no longer there. Then there's a hullabaloo.

  19. They knew who they were voting for! It's not like any of it is a surprise! So no sympathy from me. I do feel for our friends who are desperate about the situation.

  20. Thank you for your empathy towards the Americans who didn't vote for the felon and who voted Democratic in the last election. When Harris lost, I was heartsick. I knew things would be bad, but not in a million years did I think that they would get this bad. I had faith that the Congress wouldn't let him abuse his power. Unfortunately I was wrong. I have been to many anti-Trump protests and it is empowering to realize that I am not alone in how I feel.
