Sami is away in Arab territory, so I am not joining her this week for Monday Mural.
I don't know of any bird that looks like this black one (wattle bird?), but the other is sort of like an Australian kookaburra.

Year after year, our New Year's Day ABC 7am radio news tells us police are generally happy with the the NYE crowd behaviour. As the rad...
I asked Professor G and he says it could be a Currawong.
ReplyDeleteAustralian birds are quite exotic to me.
Currawongs have a heavier, straight beak, much like a crow or magpie.
DeleteAs a comment below reminded me JayCee, the currawong has a straight beak.
DeleteI wonder if a city mural could add the distinctive sound of the kookaburra. Then it could be instantly Identified.
ReplyDeleteHels, all murals of birds should have the appropriate noises at the push of a button.
DeleteDefinitely a wattle bird. And the other owes quite a lot to the kookaburra. Welcome back - and I hope your few days away were lovely.
ReplyDeleteThanks EC. Wattle birds are in plague proportions at Sister's.
DeleteThese are very colourful finds!
ReplyDeleteYes, wattlebird and kooka. Love them but love the parrots more.
ReplyDeleteGood to see you back!
Thanks Kylie. Kookaburras are top of the pile for me.
DeleteI'm not much help to identify birds but the murals are colorful, I like.
ReplyDeleteThat's good Deb. I'm glad.
DeleteBeats me, but both murals are eye-catching.
ReplyDeleteThey certainly caught my eye Kirk.
DeleteThey both look lovely, Andrew.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year and,
May your heart be light, your days be bright, and your year be just right.
Beautiful murals and so colourful too. I checked my bird book and it does look very similar to a wattle bird, the dot of red on the face indicates a red wattle bird. There are other types, yellow wattlebirds, brush wattlebirds and "little" wattlebirds that appear to have no colourations.
ReplyDeleteRiver, yes, red wattle birds are what we generally see here.
DeleteVery interesting to see. Thank you, Andrew
ReplyDeleteThanks Cloudia. Aloha.
DeleteLovely birds, the like of which we never see here. Welcome back!
ReplyDeleteThanks JB. With some pride, we really do have some great birds here.
DeleteI once knew a woman called Muriel - Muriel Stonehewer. As far as I know, there's no Muriel mural anywhere.
ReplyDeleteYP, you take my grandmother's name in vain!
DeleteSo many birds in the world, time to get to know more of them.
ReplyDeleteThey are quite fascinating, TP.
DeleteSo colourful
ReplyDeleteAlison in Wales x
Alison, while our forests lack colour, our birds don't.
DeleteWhatever they are they are colourful and well painted.
ReplyDeleteIndeed Marie, thanks.
DeleteThat's a really nice mural -- colorful, and not all scarred up with tags! (yet)
ReplyDeleteSteve, it is surprising that it hasn't been tagged. Maybe it's quite new.
DeleteThe painting is well done, Andrew. Welcome back.
ReplyDeleteThank you Pat.
