Witness

The BBC programme Witness looks at past events. I don't listen to them all but pick what interests me, and this one certainly interests me. I listen when I am out walking or on public transport. I thank my Sydney friend Victor for alerting me to Witness, so many years ago.

No need to go on. Irish shop workers strike against South African Apartheid. (Fingers crossed it is interesting)

  1. BBC produces lots of great content. BBC American is mostly re-runs of old USA TV programs and movies that had a British actor or author involved. It used to be better.

    1. That's interesting TP. We don't have BBC Australia, and yours sounds disappointing. Why watch old American tv on the BBC. I think our UK TV gives us access to BBC TV. But Britbox is buying up more and more of current and older BBC and ITV tv shows.

  4. I followed your link but as it is a radio clip I can't easily listen, however, I did find some interesting video clips there too - with subtitles! - so thanks you for pointing me in that direction.

  5. Thanks for the link. I started listening to it. My mother's cousin was one of Nelson Mandela's lawyers, he had to flee from South Africa, came to England because Australia refused to let him in, in the end he was very successful in England. What a small world we have.

    1. That's an interesting connection Yael. Australia's loss is England's gain by the sound of it.

    1. Indeed Margaret. I think Australia behaved pretty well over apartheid.
