You simply can't visit Sydney without a ferry trip to Manly and finding somewhere for some nosh. Fusion Cafe is our usual choice and it didn't disappoint.
Circular Quay has pedestrians, ferry wharves, cafes and other useful place at ground level and is also the terminus of the L2 and L3 light rail lines. Above are train lines and above those, cars whiz by. There are good arguments to demolish it and start again but it works quite well in my opinion.
The old Customs House Maritime Services Building, from the Quay.
This dude who photo bombed my picture looks like he would crush you. Gosh, I hate to think.
That's better.
Manly is so beautiful.
This fellow ferry passenger was very entertaining as he sang an operatic version of Rod Stewart's Sailing. He was so good, without backing music.
thecontemplativecat here It looks like you are heading into spring. Such good photos.
ReplyDeleteCC, except we aren't. The days are increasingly autumnal heralding the cold of winter.
DeleteManly ferry was the highlight of our trip
ReplyDeleteJohn, it's always so good. I can't count how many times we've taken that ferry.
DeleteI haven't ever taken that ferry. I should. When next we are in Sydney. I find going down hill as challenging as going up.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a beautiful day.
Downhill is easy, lie down and roll, ha ha.
DeleteEC, R's knees really bother him going down hill. It was a nice day.
DeleteRiver, that is not a particular elegant way to descend a hill.
DeleteBut it could be fun if one is properly suited up. lol
DeleteThis is such a sunshine series of photos. Looking so lovely in stark contrast to the two stabbing incidences in the past 2 days
ReplyDeleteI know Roentare. Just so sad.
DeleteSuch a lovely spot, and such manly men at Manly!
ReplyDeleteBob, I think the beach is popular because it has good beginner type surf and that it has also a place to parade your body, although North Bondi Beach is perhaps better. Of course not that you we be interested.
DeleteI'm sure he photo bombed and that was unintentional to catch his image. Tongue held in cheek. Operatic Rod Stewart song on a ferry.....Sydney sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteStrayer, of course it was unintentional and seems to happen too often to my photos. I wish I had recorded the singer.
DeleteThe ferry trip offers up great scenery, including the bridge and opera house of course. But even the old Customs House, not my favourite type of architecture normally, looks impressive.
ReplyDeleteHels, there are so many good reasons why Sydney is desirable to tourists.
DeleteI am sure the singer had a lovely voice but his tshirt leaves a lot to be desired!!
ReplyDeleteI am surprised you don't offer R a piggy back ride up the hill. Where has chivalry gone?
I agree Merlot. His personal presentation was wanting but it was nice entertainment. When you carry your husband on your back, I'll consider carrying R.
DeleteThat's not a picture of the [former] Customs House. It is of the old Maritime Services Board building, now the Museum of Contemporary Art.
ReplyDeleteMC, that is what I thought. The Customs building is to the left of where I was standing? One supposedly reliable source told me wrong.
DeleteCustoms building is behind where you were standing, on the other side of the railway/Cahill Expressway and across the road/piazza-type area. Of course you can find all this out for yourself on the internet.
Deletel like to test out my readers' knowledge and Googling can be so boring.
DeleteThe surfboards fit right in with my musical selection today. Manly does look nice, I don't think we ever went there while living in Sydney.
ReplyDeleteRiver, they do indeed. The Corso is nice too.
DeleteVery nice photos and good view there both of the Opera House and that guy.
ReplyDeleteMargaret, Sydney is so photogenic, including the people at times.
DeleteThe scenery doesn't just involve beaches and buildings - people, too, make an interesting addition.
ReplyDeleteJB, I used to try to avoid having people in photos but you are right. They can and usually add to a photo.
DeleteYou have a beach in Sidney, I didn't know ! Honestly during my school time I didn't like Geography, and rather slept !
ReplyDeleteGattina, most Australians live near the coast. Beautiful sandy beaches are never far away from most people.
DeleteI have had taxi drivers turn the "just around the corner" ride, into a couple of miles through the maze of back streets ride (Madrid.)
ReplyDeleteI can imagine TP. About twenty years ago I met a Thai visitor to Melbourne, and wow, had he been ripped off by a taxi to his hotel.
DeleteIt looks like another lovely vacay day, Andrew. You know there's a couple of folks in town that drive their scooters right down the middle of the road. Yikes. Have a great one.
ReplyDeleteSandra sandracox.blogspot.com
Sandra, yes I've seen that here but thankfully not too often.
DeleteYou need to find a couple of cafes spaced up the hill so that you can take breaks.
ReplyDeletePat, cups could only be half filled, otherwise your drink would spill when placed on your table.
DeleteThanks for the inspiration. I haven't been to Bill & Toni's for ages.
ReplyDeleteJames, good food, good service but very noisy. It was Saturday night though.
DeleteThat man in the last photo is wearing a t-shirt with a very curious message.
ReplyDeleteSteve, he was quite strange himself. There was a woman with him.
DeleteFinally, I can get logged in to comment!! I will be relishing reading all your posts.
ReplyDeleteYes, that guy is easy on the eyes!!!
Thanks Jackie. Nice to see your comments.
