Back to normal this week for Sunday Selections with random photos. River and other participate.
I asked one of my scribes to write my birthday card to my 90 year old friend. He did not leave space for 'Hugs and kisses, Andrew', at the end. I empoy incompetents! I sent him this photo.
It seems things need to be labelled.
Who would have thought water would come out from a tap.
Which bad boi arranged the fruit bowl? Or was it the elderly resident?
Phyllis did not clean my toilet, and I wouldn't want him to, but he did get through his list.
I brought home a keepsake serviette from the 90th birthday party, filed under invitations in the filing cabinet.
Near Crown Casino. One can only guess.
Flowers were bought at South Melbourne Market. The colour, the choice of Phyllis.
Last night as write this on Saturday evening, we had terrible wind, blasting from the south west, and with one of my bedroom walls facing south and the other west, it was enough to keep waking me up. Not really a problem as I was back asleep in a minute but mein gott, the wind gave the building a good buffeting. There were 1,700 calls to emergency services and thousands without power this morning.
A balcony chair had been moved a metre by the wind, and while the potted cyclamen survived quite well....

Your wind was quite fierce by the sound of it. Poor pansies.
ReplyDeleteKosov looks very cute in that photo. Sweet boy.
Soory that you have been feeling sad but your boys will cheer you up, especially if they carry on with their singing and creative fruit bowl arrangements.
JayCee, while Phyllis is a survivor, I feel protective towards Kosov. He is a sweetie.
DeleteI love the photos. I've been feeling the sads this week too, not sure why.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pixie. I hope your and my malaise are soon begone.
DeleteOf course Kosov found the toy department! I love Spotlight and went there often when it was in the city, but it moved to the suburbs years ago and I've been only twice since then.I spend a fair bit of time in the bathroom, but most of that is squugeeing and cloth drying the shower and floor. It takes a bit longer these days, I must be getting old.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if a rainbow parade would look more effective if people marched in colour groups? it would make for great photos at least.
River, I've thought about your method of keeping the bathroom clean, but it is not for me. You are probably right about the colour line up of the costumes.
Delete*squeegeeing*
ReplyDeleteI don't mind cold and wet in winter.... we sleep under a warm doona that is cold-proof.
ReplyDeleteBut the brutal winds were scary. Apart from taking peoples' roofs off, the _very_ tall trees around the house looked as if they would crash through the windows :(
Hels, such is the price of living in a green and leafy suburb.
DeleteI recognize John and Olivia, but I'm not sure if that's Tina just below.
ReplyDeleteKirk, yep, Tina.
DeleteSorry you feel a bit down but that is understandable after losing your soul mate. Hopefully the boys can cheer you up with their singing and preening. That storm sounded scary.
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane. Partner, husband, lover, boyfriend, life companion...whatever, none have sounded right. I like soul mate. The storm was pretty bad.
DeleteYour life is going great.
ReplyDeleteMost would think so, Roentare.
DeleteLovely selection of photos, Andrew. Love the cyclamen and if you take the flowers off the pansies they might grow again, worth a try.
ReplyDeleteMargaret, the pansy does have new flower buds. I'll give it a day or so to see what happens.
DeleteYou're allowed to be sad sometimes - it's only natural.
ReplyDeleteThe gales sound bad and very worrying.
Boys will be boys and toys are fun at any age.
Don't worry JB. I do like toy departments myself. I was pleased to see spirographs prominently featured.
DeleteYour cyclamen looks great, espcially because it's been through a storm and it's the end of the season.
ReplyDeleteI know your sense of humour well enough to be pretty darned sure it's the apartment owner who arranged the fruit
Kylie, really what an accusation! Guilty Ma'am.
DeleteDepartment of Planning. Oy.
ReplyDeleteIt would not surprise me, Bob.
DeleteLooks like a busy week, have fun, and I would bet you arranged the fruit bowl.
ReplyDeleteIt was a busy week TP. A bit quieter this week.
DeleteI love a toy department. Was it a clown convention in one of the pics?
ReplyDeleteSadness can strike at any time can't it........ particularly when associated with grief.......memories of your dear one , welcome but so poignant. I too am glad you have the company of P and K
Alison in Devon x
I don't know Alison. Maybe just teen age dress up day. I'm feeling ok today. Thanks.
DeleteThat parade of costumed people is quite remarkable. Maybe a Comic Con or some other "fancy dress" convention? Kosov looks quite happy in his Viking suit. The labels are funny.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you're going to feel bouts of sadness given the loss you've sustained. It's bound to circle back on you from time to time. As you said, onward and upward.
Certainly not the main Comic Con, Steve.
DeleteCircle back? Yes, that's how it feels.
The boys and their ways are darling. I wish they were here attending to the cleaning and fun. Guns and hormones don't mix. Guns and drinking don't mix either but nobody gets it here. And may never get it. We love our guns here so much we dream of them and sleep with them close as close can be. The more religious you are the more guns you may have. Oh I don't know much, just making all that up. I don't own a gun but I have cats and they don't mix. I hope you are not sad too long. Thinking of you. I might just take off in my kayak to Australia. I wouldn't make it but I'd give it a good try.
ReplyDeleteStrayer, they are getting better but it is hard when they don't clean like I think they should. That's what comes from living with someone for forty five years. Not that I wouldn't welcome your visit, but I think you might get turned around and sent home.
DeleteStrayer; wait for a tail wind and paddle fast.
DeleteKosov looks so happy. The lads will help with those sad days, Andrew. Be well.
ReplyDeleteHe does Pat. They are both of a happy disposition and not sulky at all.
DeleteI enjoyed your selections very much, and your sense of humor.
ReplyDeleteAh, thanks heaps MM.
