It was an impromptu visit to Elwood Beach when Phyllis (correctly spelt, unlike in a previous post) was driving. The waters of Port Phillip are normally quite calm, but not this day with a high tide and large waves. So exciting in our humble not so little bay. The lads have been there before in calm times, and so were also impressed.
And a few photos from our visit to The Eagle at Arthurs Seat. This is looking up to Arthurs Seat from the pier at Dromana.
The gondolas travel about up and down for about one kilometre in each direction. It was a devil to pay because while we ate at the cafe, I looked online and if I had booked The Eagle in advance, it would have cost about $17 less for the three of us. I went to the counter and asked, and sure enough, if I stepped back and booked online now, I could save that money. I suppose it was worth it. I needed a QR code and apparently I downloaded the required app using one email address, and the tickets with the QR arrived to the different requested address. Old man became confused with matters tech, but I did get there in the end. Kosov tried to help, but couldn't understand what happened either.
In the lower centre of this photo, you can see a grazing kangaroo. The skies were quite cloudy but we could just see the tall Melbourne buildings. My usual joke, "Guys, you left your bedroom window open", fell rather flat.
Looking south towards Rosebud. We stopped off for food in Mornington, and then headed home.
I visited the doctor today, Monday, and he took off the clear plastic bandage and proclaimed I had healed. I was impressed by how good the wound looked. There will be a scar I suppose, but what is one more.
Looks rough there!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that you have healed well. I am sure your scar will fade to a dim and distant memory soon.
I have never seen Elwood Beach looking wild like that. The climate seems to be chaotic this year, especially in NSW but also here apparently.
ReplyDeleteI seem to have missed you getting that injury. Did you catch it in your zip?
ReplyDeleteI listened to an audio book recently (Hell Ship - Michael Veitch) that had the dangers of sea travel while migrating to Melbourne back in the day - I can believe it looking at that water!
ReplyDeleteJeanie, Veitch being better known as a comedian.
DeleteAnother great day out. I do like a wild sea to watch. Excellent news that you are healing so well.
ReplyDeleteThe splashing waves are great for photographers to practice shutter speed photography. That gondola view is wonderful
ReplyDeleteI have always loved the view from Arthur's Seat and the bay does indeed, look unusually wild.
ReplyDeleteI am glad your wound has healed well.
Congrats to capturing the kangaroo on film. And I'm glad you're healing all right.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are healed and still pretty! Fun outing. Nice pics
ReplyDeleteIt seems like you are really settling into your relationship with P and K. Your "usual joke" is surely a Dad joke.
ReplyDeleteHa! That is exactly what I was going to say!!!! (And Andrew? Dad jokes always fall flat.)
DeleteI'm impressed with the gondola but have to ask is it cold way up high? Are heavy coats and scarves needed? Woolly hats? I love watching raging seas.
ReplyDeleteRiver, enclosed, so no colder than at ground level really.
DeleteGlad you are healed, and another scar doesn't matter as long as the problem was fixed!
ReplyDeleteNice view from the gondola, that looks a rather large kangaroo.
Odd how it's cheaper to book online than at the ticket box/place. You probably wouldn't use the app much.
My, the sea is rough at the bay there.
That was a busy trip and well worth it for the views, though the sea was maybe too exciting.
ReplyDeleteScars are life's journal, each one recalling something.
A great day to visit the beach, I love the crashing surf.
ReplyDeleteI really really like that shot with the kangaroo. A keeper. It looks quite smoggy, but that could be you? (Just kidding). Glad you're wound has healed so well.

I'm glad the healing goes well, Andrew.
ReplyDeleteSteamwhistle Brewery is located in an old railway roundhouse with a large turntable that was used to turn the locomotives. It is downtown near the CN Tower.
A kangaroo seems so exotic to me! Not to you, I'm sure. Those waves are crazy.
ReplyDeleteThat's nice that your wound healed so well ! The place looks very nice, although the waves were quite rough ! We had 35° today which had never happened ! Our restaurant has air condition so most of the residents spent the afternoon in there. I preferred to sit under a nice tree and with a little wind it was not too hot. My room is OK it has the thick castle walls and I kept the windows closed. I had 26° which was not bad at all.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you are healing well and out and about. Enjoy your little break...and yes...you can be very happy you live in Oz.
ReplyDeleteWhat fabulous sights! Thank you for sharing. I'm glad you're healing well.
ReplyDeleteAs my friend says, Scars have Stories. https://scarshavestories.com/
Best wishes, Andrew.
Well, the website doesn't contain much at this time. I should have read through it first. ~rolls eyes~ I'd hoped there would be interesting content.
