We can be quick to judge what female media people wear, even if we say nothing, we still notice things. Or is that just me?
Men in figure disguising suits (like #45 with his girdle and suits that almost disguise his bloated figure) have it much easier. That's nothing against big people, it's just about him.
But some men in media really get style right. I won't mention his extremely white teeth or his suspiciously black hair but local and most excellent ABC weekend newsreader Iskandar Razak really hits the mark.
His well cut jacket is perfectly teamed with a white shirt. The red tie, red kerchief and red watchband break the conservative look.
Some men paint their nails because they like to and good luck to them but I expect Iskandar's single painted nail is in support of "Nailed It, an organisation to raise awareness of physical and sexual violence against children, and that's not a bad thing.
thecontemplativecat here. I recall early news days. There was a standard that set the tone.
ReplyDeleteCC, when ABC newsreaders wore dinner suits to read the news? On radio too I've read.
DeleteI hope both surgeries go well. I rarely notice what people on television are wearing but do notice their faces and voices. I agree with you about #45 though (but then I loathe everything about him).
ReplyDeleteMine has thanks EC. Still numb so no pain. #45 must have a good quality somewhere, but it sure hides it well.
DeleteI don't like the red, white and blue look he's got going there.
ReplyDeleteHave you already chosen your Herman bolt? Plain for everyday and something flashy for special occasions?
Very French really River, like the flag. My bolt to hold my neck on will be just like Herman Munster's.
DeleteHope the bolt cutting goes well.
ReplyDeleteSo far JayCee, it did.
DeleteInteresting observation but I thoroughly agreed. Women outfit in media is always under scrutiny. The nail it thing is an interesting news for me. You seem to have many medical appointments.
ReplyDeleteRoentare, hopefully this is the last for a while, aside from a check next week and external stitches removed later.
DeleteRoentare, I had heard of Nail It but forgotten.
DeleteThank you for the information about nailed it. A new one for me and a very worthy cause. What a great way to create a conversation around the subject.
ReplyDeleteI do hope all the surgeries go well. Yours in particular. Will you have matching holes on either side or are they drilling through from one side.
Merlot, although it's a bit of motherhood thing, it needs to be kept being heard about and for people to be aware and not to ignore what may not be always really obvious.
DeleteHope it all goes well for you and that the bolt fits.
ReplyDeleteI think the news guy looks well turned out, as they say.
All good so far Pat, thanks. Yes, I think his look is good.
DeleteTake care Andrew. I hope everything goes well for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Debby. I'm fine.
DeleteOK. Andrew, I'm walking on eggshells here, but is the Herman bolt a actual medical term, or knowing your sense of humor as I do, a reference to one Mr. Munster?
ReplyDeleteIndeed Kirk, Herman Munster, after previously mentioning what the surgery was, someone mentioned a bolt in my neck.
DeleteHope you are ok Andrew!
ReplyDeleteWell I sit here sometimes and criticize what the women wear, their hair and in general their makeup - my mother used to do it so seems I follow. The men, I always comment if they look good.
Margaret, it is funny thing how we are conditioned to judge women by what they wear when men are judged much less harshly. Really well dressed men do stand out.
DeleteTake care when you pass through security with a bolt in your neck. I can easily be distracted by what female TV presenters are wearing whereas I never take any notice of what the men are wearing as they are usually kitted out in a suit and tie. I've often turned on TV to listen to the weather and then realised I've missed it because I was too busy mentally criticising the outfit and not looking at the weather map.
ReplyDeleteMarie, this bolt in the neck is growing too large. Ok, that is bad sentence construction. I suppose there we will be a scar after multiple stiches but I'll not see it at the back left hand side of my neck. We are at one with being distracted during weather reports, by all kinds of things and very much by what a female weather person is wearing. It wasn't always the case but now I rarely absorb a tv weather report, or radio report really. I retain what I read from the Bureau of Meteorology.
DeletePleased to hear you're recovering well and awaiting the new fitting. I hope ex-sis will also be well. I'm always distracted by what people are wearing but then I have the attention span of a fruit fly.
ReplyDeleteJB, as you, my attention span has become very short but that was not always the case. We can blame the internet.
DeleteGet a nice matched pair of bolts.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your considered advice TP.
DeleteThat's funny I just talked with my friend about the speakers on TV. At the beginning the were well shaved, had a nice haircut, suit and tie.
ReplyDeleteToday except maybe England and Italy, they wear Jeans, checked shirts, or fancy T-shirts, the hairs are uncombed and they have all a beard or half a beard or are not shaved ! Beauties !!
Oh Gattina. Civilisation is falling apart before our eyes, but what can we old people do?
DeleteGood luck with the surgeries. He's a good reporter in the field too (saw one of his stories on the news channel today, lots of authority), and he's done a few shows on ABC Radio Melbourne, too. And by all accounts, he's a terrific bloke.
ReplyDeleteJames he is indeed very competent, at the tv desk and out on the field, along with just a mike. I can even say his name correctly now.
DeleteBest wishes on healing, Andrew. You made me laugh about the bolt.
ReplyDeleteDarla, you got the joke then. Thanks.
