Sadness and anger

In 1998 the horrific details of the homophobic torture and slow death of Matthew Shepard in the State of Wyoming, slowly emerged. As hardened as I already was to humans mistreating other humans, this case really upset me, and it still does. very much.

Matthew's parents, Judy and Dennis, have been activists ever since against homophobia, with Judy awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Joe Biden.

In act of despicable pettiness, within a couple of days of #47 being sworn in, a statement on The Whitehouse website was taken down, which had marked the 25th anniversary of Matthew's death by President Biden praising the work of the Shepards.

What bastardry.

You can read more at the Star Observer website.

PS I came across this later, https://www.facebook.com/share/p/12DETqfTC7Q/ In brief, photos of former LGBT...whatever,  war veterans were removed from a public area at a veterans' hospital.

Hopefully something a bit cheerier tomorrow.

    1. Back again. I thought that I would calm down but went away and just got angrier. What a pathetic example of pettiness and nastiness. Presumably if he could revoke the Presidential Medal of Freedom he would. And like pardoning those convicted of assaulting police on January 6 it reinforces his idea that violence against people he disagrees with is just fine. Four more years of this?!!!

  4. Oh Andrew you will be pleased to know, as I was, that the wonderful Bishop Budde, she of the courage to ask Rump to be merciful to the terrified children and LGBTQ (and has had death threats as a result) arranged for burial of Mathew in her cathedral as his grave was being desecrater elsewhere.

  8. Can you imagine the pain of the parents, losing their beautiful young man to terror.
I suspect that LGBT groups are going to be banned in the new US regime, ditto abortion patients, pro-migrant protestors etc. Matthew's parents have a long struggle ahead of them, but will they be safe?

  9. It's just crazy. I cannot believe that people are just following along. Who gave that order? Why was it followed?

  20. He is such a pos. Here in Palm Springs, I would say that 50% of locals are gay men. At the theatre the other night I would say the audience was 85% gay guys. They HATE him!!

Just not quite enough

Debby and Tim have finished laying their timber floor at the new home to be, with only just enough flooring timber. It was a long time ago ...
