Sunday Selections

Along with River and others, here are my Sunday Selections, mostly of the Victoria Harbour area looking towards Docklands.

Jass is pausing her teararsing around the apartment, in pursuit of the unknown.

Not sure how these two photos will look like live. It is a difficult sculpture to photograph.

Outside a cafe where I bought coffee is a non working water feature. Never a nice look.

See the fence to the right to exclude the public? The pier decking is collapsing and remedial work is being undertaken.

I am inclined to say this is some wankery art, but it is quite interesting.

Meanwhile back home, at times I see a heat haze coming from the ventilation system at the building next door, but every so often another system kicks in to remove the warm damp air caused by humans out into the cold atmosphere, with clouds of condensation mist being pumped out.

Normally you need a screwdriver to tighten up a worm drive clip, but not with this one. Great, but what on earth did I buy that needed such a clip! I know I didn't use it.

Kosov likes to keep his eggs symmetrically arranged. I like to mess up his arrangement, as I've done here. He takes his revenge by leaving a kitchen cupboard door slightly open, a serious offence to me.

    1. Amy, the location is several kilometres away and while it looks nice in a way, the Docklands area is not liked by many people.

  2. I quite like the tree art.
Your egg rearrangement would give me palpitations too.

    1. Last Sunday I made a cross with the eggs, which did amuse.

  3. Lovely photos, Andrew! Jass always makes me smile. Thank you so much for sharing.

  4. I like my eggs symmetrical too, I only buy a dozen but like to balance the weight by taking an egg from each end first from the front row, then from the back row and so on. I'm glad the pier is being fixed before someone falls through the decking. what on earth is a worm drive clip??

    1. I used to that with eggs too River. If you have a rubber pipe to fit over a metal pipe, put the worm drive over a pipe first, then once the rubber is fitted over the metal pipe, tighten up the worm drive to make a good seal. It clamps the rubber around the metal pipe.

    2. Oh, thank you. My dad used to heat a hose in hot water, then push it onto where it needed to go and clamp it with a bit of twisted coat hanger wire.

    3. I remember doing the same, that is heating hoses in hot water to make them more flexible to do what... Fit them over a piece of copper pipe, I think.

  5. The pier decking is collapsing??

    1. Potentially it could collapse Hels. I think the piles underneath must be rotten, probably piles from some old wharf infrastructure.

  6. Yes - water features that don't work! Annoying! It is as if the artists/designers did not look too far into the future, failing to make their installations robust, reliable and long-lasting.. It happens a lot.

    1. YP, I think the fault must lie with those who design the water pumping system, rather than the artist, who probably has no technical knowledge at all.

  7. I like the kitchen wars. Mess with his eggs some more! Looks like that hose clamp would be a lot easier to tighten by key turn than it is by screw driver.

    1. Strayer, I think the hose clamp is brilliant and should become widespread.

  8. Seriously tidy (other than the egg messup) but also rather empty fridge. Empty helps for tidy.

    1. I am kind of glad it is looking a bit empty because at times it gets very full. With Phyllis working two jobs, there isn't a lot of time for him to cook at the moment.

  9. A torment with the eggs I see, Andrew.
That is a lovely area there with the high buildings and the boats. Lovely selection. Cats do love to run riot and then rest only to take off again.

    1. Margaret, I worry that Jass gets a bit bored at times. Kosov is really good at entertaining her but he is not always here.

    2. Have the boys buy some toys that will help her amuse herself, things that jingle or have parts she can chase, a cat tunnel with multiple entrances and exits.

    3. She does have toys and at times plays with them. We play with a laser pointer with her and there is one of those small balls that run around the floor doing crazy flips and things.

    1. Thanks Roentare. A pretty area but not where I would like to live.

  11. Open cupboard doors are a mortal sin. I am not obsessive about anything much but opn doors and drawers will throw me for a loop.
Jass is pretty good at entertaining herself, I'd say. Teararsing is a great word

    1. Kylie, a bit of excitement tonight as a bogong moth flew inside with Jass in hot pursuit from the balcony, jumping from the floor to the bench to the microwave to the top of the fridge. I've been informed that she caught it and ate it.

    2. So she's a fan of bush tucker 😊

  12. For non-representational art, we often need an explanation to understand the artist's meaning.

  13. Nice images of the city, though some of the artworks are head-scratchers. I like the thought of Jass "teararsing," though it may not be much fun for anyone else in the apartment!

  15. The way you troll one another cracks me up. My husband doesn't know that in part my picky eating is to keep him on his toes and/or annoy him. lol Be well!
