Nearby to Doctor Snip featured in yesterday's Sunday Selections is this mural that proves just how difficult it is to paint the human hand and get the proportions right. I've seen plenty worse though.
I have noticed that when a really skilful "artistic" mural appears in an urban environment, it isn't long before talentless oiks appear with their spray cans and tags to make a mess close by or even upon the mural itself.
I have also seen much worse (and couldn't do as well). Shame about the tagging though.
ReplyDeleteEC, yes. What horrible people to tag an artwork.
DeleteIt looks like the hand is grabbing a ball or something. Interesting to see that in that corner
ReplyDeleteRoentare, ready to grab a ball or to grasp something.
DeleteIf I look at it fast enough, I don't notice all the little proportion flaws.
ReplyDeleteStrayer, yes truly it is not bad until you look closely.
DeleteThe proportions might be off but the detail is excellent.
ReplyDeleteCaro, I so agree.
DeleteDr Snip? eeww
ReplyDeleteAnd that coming from girlfolk, Hels.
DeleteIt's a pretty decent effort.
ReplyDeleteIt's alright though near Dr. Snip!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the ‘model’ had a curvy thumb - I’ve seen that related to successful people.
ReplyDeleteAndrew who has a very straight thumb dislikes this comment, thank you Cathy.
DeleteBetter than I could do
ReplyDeleteTP, mine would be stick figure of a hand, if that is possible.
DeleteNot too bad, actually, considering the artist had to work around some windows!
ReplyDeleteQuite true Steve. Such things usually make murals more difficult.

ReplyDeleteYP, that never used to happen as the muralist was respected but it is now a free for all.
DeleteIt's a nice mural, what a pity about all the tagging. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Andrew.
ReplyDeleteAs so often is the case Sami.
DeleteFingers are a bit stubby, but this is far better than many I have seen, It's sad about all the tagging, though.
ReplyDeleteB & E, maybe I was too harsh. It is a reasonable effort. Yes, it appears tagging will now always be with us.
